BCFSA’s Pay Transparency Report is now available

BCFSA has released its first pay transparency report, in accordance with the Pay Transparency Act, on its website today. BCFSA is committed to supporting this important initiative as part of our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The report is mandated by government for all employers with over 300 employees (starting in 2026, over 50 employees) and is intended to help address the gender pay gap in B.C. Last year, women and female-presenting people in British Columbia earned, on average, 15 per cent less than men and male-presenting people. This pay gap is even more pronounced for women and gender-diverse individuals who are Indigenous, racialized, newcomers, disabled, and/or 2SLGBTQIA+.

Organizational results

At BCFSA, men and male-presenting people and women and female-presenting people receive equal pay for performing the same roles. The terms men and women are intended to include male-presenting and female-presenting people of any biological sex and were self-chosen by Team Members.

On average, women earn 14.44 per cent less than men (mean pay gap). The median pay gap is 19.05 per cent, meaning women earn 81 cents for every dollar earned by men. These gaps are not due to unequal pay within roles, but rather the underrepresentation of women in senior leadership and overrepresentation in lower-level roles. The data reflects the 2024 calendar year, during which our four highest-paid Team Members were men, which influenced the overall average figures.

Since then, we have made progress in improving gender balance in senior leadership, which we expect will be reflected in future reporting.

How do we measure up?

This report is a starting point. We will continue to examine the factors contributing to representation gaps and take action through leadership development, inclusive hiring, and succession planning. Our goal is to ensure that all Team Members are representative of equal advancement and opportunity.
