Update on Safe Real Estate Services During COVID-19 (15 December, 2020)

To protect the health and safety of the public and real estate professionals, RECBC continues to advise that no open houses should be held while restrictions remain in place to reduce the rates of COVID-19. B.C.’s Public Health Officer has extended the order on province-wide restrictions in response to the recent surge of COVID-19 in the province. Currently all events and social gatherings are suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions and travel. The order is in effect until January 8, 2021 at midnight.

Real estate professionals should continue to use virtual tools whenever possible and to limit in-person interactions with clients and consumers. Real estate professionals conducting any in-person showings must follow all Public Health Office orders. Masks are required for anyone conducting a showing, for more information: Safe Showings During Second Wave

Strata managers should discuss with their clients safe approaches to holding any scheduled general or council meetings, which could include rescheduling or conducting electronically as permitted by the emergency provincial orders. For further information on meetings and decision making, visit: COVID-19 information for strata housing — Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca) Masks are strongly recommended in common areas in apartment buildings and condos.
