Superintendent of Real Estate issues urgent order against Colton Roberts, Renters Management Inc,. and Bluhome Properties

The Superintendent of Real Estate has issued an urgent order against Colton Roberts and two companies associated with Mr. Roberts, Renters Management Inc. and Bluhome Properties. The order relates to allegations that these entities engaged in unlicensed real estate services contrary to the Real Estate Services Act. Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate (OSRE) staff also obtained evidence indicating Mr. Roberts and Renters Management Inc. collected security deposits and then cancelled agreements without refunding the deposits, purported to manage properties without the property owner’s knowledge, and conducted themselves in a manner contrary to the public interest.

It is in the public interest for the Superintendent to intervene and to order Mr. Roberts, Renters Management Inc. and Bluhome Properties to cease providing, including offering to provide, directly or indirectly, real estate services, including rental property management services, in British Columbia, effective immediately, unless and until they become licensed to do so under the Real Estate Services Act. It is also in the public interest for the Superintendent to order Mr. Roberts to:

  • provide to OSRE staff a full list of tenants and landlords to whom he has provided real estate services;
  • provide to OSRE staff complete details of any rent monies or deposit monies that he currently hold in relation to real estate services he has provided; and
  • inform the public that he, Renters Management Inc., 1216072 B.C. Ltd., and Bluhome Properties are not licensed to provide real estate services under RESA, including by posting this order at bluhome.ca and rentersmanagement.com.

Clients of Mr. Roberts or any associated companies are asked to contact the Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate for further information.

The Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate is a regulatory agency of the B.C. government that carries out the regulatory, oversight and enforcement duties of the Superintendent of Real Estate. It receives its authority from the Real Estate Services Act, the Real Estate Development Marketing Act and the Strata Property Act.
