Notice: Superintendent of Real Estate Consultation on Proposed Rule Changes
Superintendent of Real Estate Consultation on Proposed Rule Changes
The Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate is requesting feedback on proposed rules governing the conduct of licensees providing real estate services in British Columbia.
The new rules address several of the recommendations of the Independent Advisory Group on Real Estate Regulation in B.C. and aim to enhance consumer protection through a number of mandatory changes to licensee conduct and practices. Key rule changes include:
- prohibiting the practice of dual agency, except in remote and under-served locations, and
- increasing mandatory licensee disclosures regarding representation and remuneration in order to enhance consumer education and awareness
Please review the proposed changes and provide feedback at:
http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/housing-tenancy/buying-and-selling/co…
The consultation period closes on Friday October 6 at 6pm.
Please note that these are DRAFT rules for consultation purposes only. Existing rules continue to be in effect until further notice.
Please direct questions to the Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate at OSREpolicy@gov.bc.ca.
